Interested in tracing relatives......

Relatively recent burial (late 1800s to date and a lot quite earlier than this) and other Parish records are held in the church. There is also a cross-reference to indicate place of burial within our churchyards which may enable you to locate a family grave or memorial stone. If you need access to these records then please EMAIL US or visit the church when we have Open Church active in the spring and summer months.

If you live a good distance away, we may be able to check records and the churchyard for you, and email you the results of our researches, in return for which we would like a donation to church/churchyard funds afterwards. It will be worth looking at our records before checking older records held by the West Yorkshire Archive Service “WYAS” (
www.archives.wyjs.org.uk ) that are under a fee-paying service. Parish records held at WYAS include baptisms 1540-1963, marriages 1540-1919, burials 1540-1902, terriers of Holmfirth chapelry and Kirkburton vicarage 1684-1864, churchwardens accounts 1829-1839, and Booth and Farmer Charities records 1852-1972. We understand that digital access will be introduced to WYAS in due course.
